What to do When you're outnumbered 8-2? (actually 14-2 if you count the chickens and fish)

Sink your teeth in and hang on for the ride? It's been a fun, crazy, wild house here this week so far. Penny had her puppies Monday night so between her crying in labor and Genny barking from adjusting to our house and the new baby crying to eat and the old baby crying from a bad dream there has not been much sleep to go around. I think Monday night I might have gotten 4 hours! Argh! Penny did very well having her puppies though. After she started her labor we moved her down to the basement thinking she would be more comfortable down there (and hoping we wouldn't here her crying). She had two females and they look nice and strong. She's being a really good mommy too. I already have one of them sold.

Genny seems to be doing better too. The first couple nights were rough but that's to be expected. I think that because she was a stray, she has her days and nights mixed up. She is very sweet though and really smart. I'm trying to teach her to stay in the kitchen, at least until she is for sure house broken. She's had a few accidents in the house but that is also to be expected and they were pretty much my fault anyway.
She's so skinny, the poor thing.
I took everyone out for a walk yesterday afternoon since it was going to be the warmest day of the week and it was quite comical. Also yesterday morning I had to take Genny and Mishti to the vet. I took the kids to Ricky's mom's so it would be a little bit easier. The vet thinks Genny could be mixed with a collie or boxer. Collie makes sense to me.
Joanna pulled herself up to standing the other day! She is so crazy, it amazes me how fast she is developing. I've experimented with giving her some food. We had sweet potatoes the other night and she seemed to like them as well as yogurt this morning and a cracker here and there. for the most part though I think a lot of it ends up on her or the floor. Here she is helping me fold laundry. I was trying to get a picture of her standing but I wasn't quick enough.

Last night went better, sleep wise. Genny is doing much better in her kennel. Hopefully that means I can get a lot done today (haha).

We keep thinking about getting a dog, but then I read about people and dogs and think No, I don't want that again (we used to have a chocolate lab). But who knows. Sometimes I miss having a dog around that will bark at strangers etc.
And Asher loves to help do laundry! He unfolded and emptied an entire large basket the other day. He had great fun! I can't believe Joanna is big enough to be standing up already.
Asher has a onesie that says "sleep is for the weak" I think I need one!!

I can't believe Joanna is standing. Before you know it she will be walking! Then you won't have a baby. It's so nice she "helps" you fold the laundry. Glad you had your puppies. This is the first litter for this one, isn't it?

Congrats on the new babies. Hope everyone adjusts well. Do you sometimes long for adult conversation?! Been there, done that! But the time goes very quickly and in the blink of an eye they're no longer little, so treasure these times, make lots of memories. Everytime the guys come home there is the retelling, rehashing of stories. So enjoy!
