I went to Bangladesh by myself in 2002 for 10 weeks when Ricky and I were engaged for a missions trip. Here are some pictures from that trip:
This man was a fisherman with his nets in hand.
This was a wedding that we went to one time. The "happy" bride is the one in the brown sari... doesn't she look miserable?
That is actually a part of their culture. The bride is supposed to act very sad and miserable since she is leaving her family. This bride was actually happy to be getting married and I saw her trying not to laugh and smile a few times but she was doing her duty very well for the most part.
This is were the wedding feast was held. I always liked eating on the floor with my hand. For some reason I thought the food tasted better when you could eat it with my hand. When I came home I would try and do it still but couldn't take all the dirty looks for long :)
Harvesting rice. It seemed like everything was done by hand or the hard way there. Everything was so different.
This woman was separating the chaff from the wheat. She was very good at this and it is actually harder than it looks. There was a little 10 year old girl doing it who just amazed me and when I tried it they all laughed at my efforts.

I believe this woman was puffing rice to sell in the market. She gave me a big bag of it to take home with me.

So that's it for now. I've got a lot of garden work to do this week so it's another busy one for me, of course. Patty and I took the kids to the community pool this afternoon and that was a lot of fun! Joanna really didn't want to go in at first but then warmed up to it really well and was taking rides on my tummy around the kiddy pool. I'm super tired now so better go to bed. hope you enjoyed the bangladesh pics.

I enjoyed your memory pics. I really "need" a scanner too and learn how to use it in my spare time- what is spare time? This has been such a busy time and the weeds are getting ahead of me. Must get ready and go to work. Grandma
Wow Amy! That is so interesting about the wedding and having to appear sad! I'm glad you caught a few smiles from the bride :) Hope you're doing well! xoxo
