This is the wall in the kitchen I hadn't known what to do with. I found the welcome friends sign at the flower and craft warehouse and just could not resist it. When I first looked at it, it looked kinda blueish and I didn't know if it would match my walls but thought it was worth a try since I loved it so much (I have a thing for butterflies, if you didn't know)
I think it matches really nicely actually. The other two pictures I had and just hadn't hung them up anywhere. I don't know if he was being sarcastic or not but Ricky said he really likes how it looks.
When we first moved in our house there was a really ugly decorative toilet seat on the toilet that I took off and replaced with just a cheap white wooden one. Well, the wooden one was really gross, it was cracking and peeling and had stains that would just not scrub off. So I decided to get a plastic one that I thought would be more hygienic (as much as a toilet seat can be, right). Well I am pretty tickled with the one I got. It definitely wasn't the cheapest one but I really like it a lot. I was thinking though that we might have to give everyone a tutorial when they come to visit us so here is one from Chase:
Pretty cool, right?! I love that it closes by itself. And the two in one is really nice because with our tiny bathroom I don't have enough room to store potty seats for the kids so it's nice to be able to eliminate that problem. Anyway, who knew someone could be so excited about a toilet seat, right? :) It's the little things that make me happy.
As you may remember I transplanted 3 rose bushes early this spring. Well one did not make it so I took it out and decided to put this bird feeder in it's place.
So pretty.
So far I haven't seen any birds at it. I was thinking maybe it was too close to the house but I've seen birds eat crumbs off the porch before so maybe they just need to figure out that it's there. It probably doesn't help that I can't keep the kids away from it and they keep touching all the seeds. My other roses are doing well though. This is my one "knock out" bush and it started blooming over the weekend. The others all have buds on them and probably will open up by next weekend.
On the way home I stopped in at the greenhouse down the road from us and got a bunch of vegetable plants as well as this pretty plant for in my dining room.
It's called Charmed Wine and has tiny little white flowers, I like it and I don't even care that it doesn't match my pot.
We finished planting our garden:

I already had put in 2 rows of onions before we left. Saturday I put in 4 bell peppers, 6 tomato plants, 8 lettuce, and 4 1/2 rows of corn. Almost 1/2 of the corn we did last year but still a good amount I think. I think I am a little late in planting everything because it was all on sale at the greenhouse. Actually she gave me the lettuce for free because she said it was too late for it and it was all wilted. I brought them home and watered them and then planted and watered them again and they perked right up.

There are 4 iceberg and 4 buttercrunch plants. I know iceberg is not that great for you but I like it for sandwiches and burgers and like the buttercrunch for salads. The tomato plants were only $1 each! I got 6 tomato plants. I had 8 plants last year and it was a little too many.
Our strawberries are starting to ripen too
Ricky and Chase picked a bowl of them yesterday. The birds have really been getting at them badly and I want to get some netting for them but am not sure where to find that.
Ricky's aunt had come over and given me these perennials the other day and I actually found a place to put them. I should have said no but I love these flowers even though I can't remember the name of them right now, I think it starts with a "C".

I put them right in front of the dog kennel/chicken pen. There was a little tiny pine tree that we put there but it didn't survive the transplanting. I don't think these will flower this year but I'm just hoping they survive.
I don't know if I mentioned before or not that we got Mishti back from Ricky's parents. I don't think they really liked having her there so we just brought her back and put her in with the other two. She was pretty indignant about it the first couple days but she got over it and is fine now.
I never did take her for a spring haircut but I kinda don't want to either. She looks really nice with her long flowing hair and she doesn't get matted like the other two do so I think I'll just let it grow. I'm hoping she is going into heat again soon and then we'll breed her one more time and then sell her to a lady who really wants to buy her this fall. I've decided that Penny definitely IS pregnant. She's about 4 weeks now so we've got about a month to go yet but she's starting to show now so that's exciting. Blondie has been acting "funny" the last couple days and I suspect she is going to have her first heat soon as well.
Ricky let Jenna in the pen with them yesterday and she thought she would like to nibble one and see what it tastes like- we didn't let her though. Chase also went in there with them and it's funny that they don't mind him at all. They let him pick them up and carry them around and didn't even try to peck at him. This fall (before the baby) they are getting butchered and we are turning their pen into a pen for Jenna and her puppies, for when she has some.

When we were on vacation, Joanna had slept through the night every single night. I was worried that she would go back to waking up at night when we got home but she has continued sleeping through the night and it's been so nice. I even switched her to the toddler bed and got her some cute "girlie" sheets and blanket.
I even lay her down at night awake and she just falls right to sleep! I always think she'll come down to visit us but she hasn't yet. I actually had to wake her up one morning because it was 9:00am and she was still sleeping!

Don't you love the bed head? Does she look like me or what?! Whenever she wakes up she likes to press her face against yours for a while, I don't know why but it's cute. Another thing she's been doing lately that I love is she'll come right up to me and puts her arm around my neck and say, "hi mama, hi mama, hi" it's so cute. She has been talking so much lately and just surprises me every day with all the things she can say and do. She is such a ham too. We had Chad and Sheila over for dinner last night and they just could not stop laughing at how funny and expressive she is.
We had burgers on the grill for dinner with watermelon and strawberries for dessert. We've been behind on our egg consumption so I decided to fry some up to go on our burgers. If you have never tried this you really should, it is sooooo good! How can something so tasty come from something so goofy looking?

Chad and Sheila stayed till around 9:00pm and watched some of the Flyers game with us before they went home. It was such a beautiful evening and we had a lot of fun. The whole weekend was lovely and we were outside every single minute of daylight. Ricky and I both had sore shoulders Saturday night which I am assuming was from working in the garden. I was excited to hear we have rain on the way today and then another beautiful weekend. I have an appointment at the birth center tomorrow morning and then Saturday we find out was baby #3 is!

Your mystery flowers look like Cosmos. If they are, then they should bloom this year. I started some from seed and they bloomed the first year. Good Luck!
Yes, that's what they are! I just couldn't think of it. I didn't think they would bloom because of being transplanted this year.
gotta say- I love the toilet seat! I'm going to talk to Jesse and try to talk him into some. Can you tell me how much they are?
I'm excited to hear what you are having! And that I'll be able to see it this time!
you'll never guess where i got it from ;)... Walmart, it was their most expensive toilet seat at a whopping $30! totally worth it though.
Amy. I was going to tell you I thought your flowers were Cosmos, but the "authority"- Toot, beat me to it. John and Andrea want to come and learn how to make jams and jellies. I stopped at the auction today to check on strawberries, but they will be more plentiful (and cheaper) in a week or two.
Thanks! I want at least one for our 'new' house. I doubt at that price Jesse will let me get 2, but I might be able to talk him into one for upstairs (*crossing fingers*).
Thanks for stopping by my blog!
I love the bird feeder! I need to find something cute like this for my yard.
Your bump is looking mighty cute! I can't wait to see it grow.
