Racing with Chase

Ok, sorry about that "teaser" post earlier. About a week ago I got a new super cool free phone and I was testing to see if I would be able to update this blog on it. It may not be as "pretty" as usual but I'll be able to update after baby arrives. As you may remember our computer is in our basement family room and I won't be able to do stairs for a while, so I wanted to get a phone that would allow me to stay better connected... plus there's lots of cool games on it so I won't get bored, haha :)
Last weekend was our town's community days. They kicked everything off on Wednesday night with a big Lights and Sirens parade. All the fire companies from all over came to show off their fire trucks and it was a pretty noisy parade from what I hear. Joanna and I still went to VBS at our church but Chase stayed home to watch the parade with Dominic that night. All last week was pretty rough for bedtimes, VBS went until 9:00pm every night so the kids didn't get to sleep until 9:30 every night from Sunday to Thursday, then the weekend was Terre Hill days so we stayed up late those nights as well. Joanna had a major melt down yesterday and went to bed at 7:00pm without eating dinner and screaming and yelling at us. she woke up this morning in a much better mood though so hopefully we'll be able to get back to our routine now.
Saturday morning I got the kids up early to take Chase to his race. Every Saturday of Terre Hill days they have a 5 mile adult run and then a 1/2 mile kids fun run after that starts. This was the third year in a row that Chase has ran in the race! The first year he was Joanna's age and ran the whole thing in a diaper while holding a matchbox car! I can't imagine Joanna doing that, he has just always loved to run. Well the last two years I've run it with him but I didn't think I should this year being pregnant and all, plus it was super hot, but Chase really wanted someone to go with him so I got my bike and Joanna and I followed behind him

I was so proud of him, he didn't come in last this time either!

Despite the excessive heat, Ricky continues to work his butt off. Saturday he was able to fill in the hole in the patio and has been working on re-pouring the concrete slab and re-laying the bricks.

I feel so much better now that that hole is filled in but he also decided to get a load of topsoil while he had the dump truck so now we have a big pile of dirt in the backyard which I've found makes for very dirty children at the end of the day.

Sigh... All in the name of progress though. I got the paint and rollers that I need to paint the new wall, but I'm not sure when I'll be able to get to that.
The puppies are getting sooo cute and playful. I had them up on the porch for a while so I could keep an eye on them.

This one fell asleep in the food so no one else could eat!

what a hog.

Chase loves messing with them and put this one in the cup holder of the camping chair :) They were starting to make a mess of my porch so they are back out in the "barn" now. Two more weeks and they'll be leaving us! Crazy how time flies.

Chase is so cute! I think it is so amazing that he loves to run like that. I don't know if any of my kids would want to do that especially in this heat!
