Well, it's that time of year again. Hunting season! Of course I'm so behind on my blogging that it has come and gone already. Ricky and I were able to go out together on the first day and it was a lot of fun.
I actually shot something too, I couldn't believe it! This was my first deer ever and it was very exciting.
We got all the meat back the other day and out freezer is officially full! So happy to have all the meat we will need for the year now :) Burgers and hot dogs are on us this summer, we got 40lbs of each!
Unfortunately I wasn't able to go out with him again after that first day but it looks like I may be going with him for muzzle loader season after Christmas. I hope it's not too cold! Speaking of muzzle loaders... I let Ricky open his gift a little early this year and he's pretty thrilled with it.
It's unusual because if you find a muzzle loader pistol it is usually cap lock. Apparantly they only make these flint lock pistols for the Cabela's in PA.Exciting, right?! ;P
On the 11th of the month we drove down to New Jersey for the very seasonal Mt. Laurel Living Nativity. We went down with Ricky's parents and their friend and Patty and Dexter (and Dominic, of course) and their 2 friends. My mom had arranged to have us be the very first group and have interpreters and everything for us. The kids really love going through the Nativity.
Away in a manger...
The wise men visiting Herod...
Jesus calming the sea (one of Chase's favorite scenes)
And the Ascension...
It's a pretty elaborate production and really fun to see all the flying angels and live animals. Plus we get cookies and hot chocolate afterwards, haha!
On the way home we stopped for dinner at Burger King. Joanna loves Ricky's parents' friends, Debbie. Although she didn't want to smile for the camera :P
My silly boy:
Last Tuesday on the 13th I took the kids to meet my Parents and sister Dawn and Kira at Longwood Gardens. We got there at 10:00 in the morning so we obviously weren't able to see all the Christmas lights but it was still a lot of fun.
The kiddos:
Mom and Dad:
They had this room full of yummy looking candy. You can't really tell from this picture but this tree was covered in it. There was also two huge candy "houses" that were pretty amazing.
Walking through the conservatory...
I always love the Orchid room
I was really fascinated with the Bonsai trees. They were pretty amazing. This looked like a little forest in a pot.
If you click on this picture you will see that this tree is over 100 years old!
This one actually had a pomegranate on it:
It was misting on us as we walked through the rain forest :P
Hibiscus:
I love this picture of the Bird of Paradise flower too:
After we walked around a lot of the conservatory we went out and played in the children's garden a little.
Chase really had a fun time. He kept telling me how he couldn't wait to go back again :)
After we walked around for a bit outside we went back into the conservatory and found another little children's garden.
There were a lot of really neat fountains
After that we stopped for lunch and then decided to try and find the two tree houses that they recently put up on the property. They were kind of tucked back in the woods and we had to really search for them :P We passed the old homestead on the way.
Yay, the tree houses!
A little peephole:
Our whole gang:
The second tree house had these Dr. Seuss looking trumpets that were supposed to help you hear the sounds of the forest. Mostly they just got yelled into though :P
Little cutie-pie:
On the way back up the hill
We ended up walking around for about 3 hours and really wore the kids out. Katy actually fell asleep on my back, I couldn't believe it!
It was a lot of fun though :)
