It looked nice finally but then I had the idea to pull up their gross pink carpet because I thought it looked like there was hardwood underneath.
I got a bunch of it pulled up before realizing it was just plywood and they had stained a foot and a half all around the perimeter of the room.
So now it is half carpet and half plywood. I need to pull up the rest of the carpet and then lay down a laminate floor, I guess.
Ah well, the carpet was gross and needed to come out anyway.
I got lots of gardening done this month so far. And some pretty flowers added too,
This is called an Icelandic poppy
The kids were a big help to me this year, they liked digging in the garden for worms so we could go fishing.
LOTS of worms.
Sunshine is our favorite :)
It's so exciting to see everything start popping up in the spring. Last year I had one lone bloom on these peonies, this year they are loaded with buds!
It finally dried out enough for me to till and start on the planting of my garden.
Katy and I fixed up her fairy garden for the season.
The kids learned how to play marbles at one of their co-op classes and were really into it for a while. Even getting all the neighbor kids to play with them too.
We finished mulching my butterfly garden and re-layed the path.
It looks so lovely now.
I decided I needed a cute fence for my vegetable garden this year. It was a lot of work to put it up but I'm hoping it will keep Sweetie from running through it and trampling things, and maybe even keep the bunnies out.
We put newspaper down around the edges and the put topsoil all around and planted marigolds for more rodent repellant.
Joanna painted this welcome may for me. I told her I need one for the other side that says, "thanks for visiting, take some weeds with you"
Doesn't this look lovely?!
A sign of a day well spent:
Last weekend we went fishing with the kids to this old mill dam
It's a pretty neat place with lots of big shady trees.Chase caught a few sunnies.
Katy found these kitty purses at our discount grocery store. She couldn't decide which one she liked best so she bought both.
Easter Sunday I made two amazing apricot- bourbon glazed hams and creamed corn and took my applesauce over to Rickys mom's house for our yummy Easter dinner after church. We ate around 1 and then had an egg hunt for the kids. They found it so difficult to wait until I said go!
All that was left of our hams went to the dog.
All this week the kids and I worked on finishing up our mulching.
We finally finished Thursday afternoon and the flowers and beds look so nice now!
Tuesday last week we had our last day of co-op for the year and ended up having to leave early to go to our end of the school year evaluation. I found a new evaluator this year and she was super nice and so encouraging! She gave me some helpful info for next year and signed two approval letters for me to send in to the school board when we are done counting our days next week.
Of course all of that called for celebratory ice cream cones at Oregon dairy before we went home :)
