Katy practices and practices gymnastics at home. She sets goals for herself to try and achieve and works on them everyday. In the beginning of October she finally achieved a kick over from bridge that she had been practicing for a couple months!
We lowered the tables and ate on the floor. I had gotten a lot of books from the libraries for them to look at and the Mums were because that is one of Japan's national flowers... plus they just looked pretty :)
Sue went out and purchased Sushi (not enough time to learn to roll and make our own) and springrolls.
I got some Kombucha for everyone to try.
and of course we all had to take off our shoes as we entered the room!
Homemade fortune cookies were so good!
The next week I was in charge of the craft and we made some Kai-awase shell games. I found these cool gold containers at a local craft re-use-it store and we modpodged on fabric and shells.
It is like a memory match type game. We drew pictures on the insides of shells and if you would get a match you have to tell a story or poem about the drawing on the shells.
Our got Bandit keeps getting cuter and more wooly as the days get colder. He is doing pretty good being an only goat and only bleats at us once in a while now, usually when he's hungry :P
He doesn't need to be on a leash or tie-out when we are out with him he stays very close to us... He's also becoming much more comfortable around the dogs.
It was a pretty good hike out to the cliffs from where we were able to park but the kids all had scooters of rollerblades or what-have-you and were zipping way ahead of us moms the whole time and having a blast.
The cliffs were really cool and it was very picturesque out there.
All the kids loved running on the cliffs and wanted to stay MUCH longer.
We had taken Honey along and the long hike there and back really wore her out :)
I found these chairs along the side of the road and thought they would be a fun remodel project.
I had to take them all apart, they were pretty old and stinky and had lived in a Mechanic Garage for many years, yuck.
They turned out super cute! I used an enamel paint on them so they hopefully won't scratch or flake.
I had some of this fabric leftover from doing the girls' quilts.
The fit perfectly at the girls craft table.
Katy's Birthday was on the 10th and all she really wanted was a big wagon from Tractor Supply.
She was so excited to turn 8.
Sweetie and Honey continue to be adorable
And the girls too of course.
We had a little family party for Katy and I made a chocolate cake with peanut butter icing, it was amazing!
We did Ghana for our co-op class for two weeks and I was able to arrange for a friend to come and teach us about Ghanan food and culture!
She brought her friend along who was from Ghana and the kids had so much fun learning and peppering them with questions!
I had bought this shirt from her years ago and never had the guts to wear it, but I had a reason to this time!
Chase has had some early practices on Tuesday nights, which have not been much fun after a long tiring day at our co-op but before the time changed the girls and Honey would go with me and we'd go for a hike of play and the playground until dark.
