Joanna decided that she wants to learn Origami and we found some "easy" to follow videos on youtube and she's been practicing and practicing.
She made a hundred of these little Parakeets.Ricky took her to get a pack of paper and she made a hundred of these "fortune teller" things. I remember making them when I was a kid!
They are doing so good with it and progressing every week! Their trainer lets them practice trotting on their own now.
We broke my hard and fast rule and started decorating for Christmas before Thanksgiving passed. It was a combination of being excited to have our first Christmas in the new house and the fact that we got a "new" tree at a thrift store for a good deal.
So many stockings this year! The kids insisted we add a stocking for Memaw and her dog Rosie, our new dog Honey and one for the goat too!
Of course the goat's stocking is the fanciest one too 😂
It's fun having the open staircase to decorate.
We had the Eberly Thanksgiving at our house this year! It's so nice we actually have room now to host parties. We had such a feast, everything was so good. We had a lunch time meal because we initially though Memaw was going to be leaving Thursday afternoon to go to Wisconsin but she changed her mind at the last minute and ended up staying home all weekend. Ricky and I got up at 5am to start smoking the turkey! It smoked for 5 hours in his pole barn and then we finished it up in a large roaster cooker.
Talento is staying with Patty and Dexter this year from Mozambique and so it was his first American Thanksgiving holiday.
After we ate and talked a while I left with the girls to go to my Wallin Family's thanksgiving that evening. I didn't realize I was an hour late for the gathering but I wasn't at all hungry anyway so I just floated around and talked to people as they finished up eating. I forgot to take any pictures but found this old gem on my phone!
This was going to be a lighter meal though. My sister made a turkey noodle soup that was super yummy and I brought a turkey and wild rice soup that turned out good as well (of course the leftover smoked turkey helped a lot with that!).
Christy's dining room was such a lovely place to sit and have a nice cozy meal.
Aiden made all of these name tags and the kids all had pumpkins with candy in them!
I thought it was cute they were sitting here holding pinkies waiting for the prayer :)
I love Christy's wall "clock" art, it has no hands because it's supposed to symbolize that moments spent with friends and family is is timeless. Love it! I think my next project is going to be to try and imitate it, in a smaller version :)
The next day I took the leftover turkey carcass and made a BIG pot of wonderful bone broth. I love bone broth day because it makes the whole house smell so good and homey.
I actually had used up the last of my broth over the thanksgiving holiday so it was perfect timing to be able to make more. I decided to can it this time because I'm hoping we will still get a couple more deer to put in the freezer.
