Visit to hawk mountain sanctuary

The other weekend Katy was staying with my mom and Ricky was off hunting so I decided Chase, Joanna and I needed to do something fun together. The leaves were at peak color for the fall up here so I decided we needed to go to Hawk Mountain and take in the views.
I thought it was funny that this tree was trying to eat a rock.
There are two look out spots and the second one is a pretty good hike to get to. I did my best keeping up with the kids.

It was super windy up there but we did see some raptors flying and the view was just breathtaking.

For some reason hiking downhill always seem to go faster than going up 😜
We enjoyed walking around the visitor center and native garden when we got back down.

Unbeknownst to us it was Eagle day at the sanctuary! It was a happy accident so we stayed for the presentation and were able to see a Golden Eagle and Bald eagle in person!
