Christmas Program and a Short December Getaway

I made some new tassel earrings for my shop and some for myself of course... Katy HAD to have some too so I made her some clip on ones.
We both wore them to church and were matchers :)
December and the holidays but me in a baking mood... but not too overboard, I still use box mixes :P  These were s'more cookies and really yummy!
Our church does their Christmas program the first Sunday of December, which seems really early too me but oh well.  Katy is our only kid in primary this year so she was the only one participating!

I had wanted Chase and Joanna to play their instruments for Prelude but they didn't learn their pieces in time. Chase actually ended up going to his cousin's hockey game and Joanna sat with Ricky and I the whole time.

Afterwards is always fun because there's cookies and hot chocolate and good fellowship.
The next day Ricky and I took Chase and Dominic up to Parker Dam State park for a few days of deer hunting.  I took the dogs over to a friends house and they loved riding in the car together.

Honey is such a funny puppy with lots of personality and Sweetie is just a good steady girl :)
After I got back from dropping them off we hit the road in the truck and made really good time going up there.
We were really excited to see snow up there :)
Before we even checked into our cabin Chase wanted to try fishing.  Too cold for me to stand out there but he was happy... even though he didn't even get a nibble :P
We checked into our little cabin and then quickly put our hunting clothes and went out to hunt for the evening hours.  We saw a buck as we were driving in to find a spot to hunt, but he skedaddled pretty quickly and then we didn't see anything while sitting in the woods until dark.
The next morning we got up bright and early and hiked out in the dark.  Chase and I sat down at a power line clearing on a fallen tree and Ricky and Dominic walked on to find a different spot.  We sat for a couple hours and then Chase saw a deer.  He took the shot and the deer ran a little ways, stood still for a few seconds and then dropped over dead!  It was a little spike buck but Chase was pretty excited. He made a perfect lung shot at 160 yards!

Ricky decided this time he had to gut out his deer himself.  It took forever but he and Dominic finally got it done and did a great job at it too!  We even made them drag it out.

It ended up being the only deer we got over the three days but we had so much fun and probably couldn't have fit another deer in the back of the truck anyway 😂
We're hoping to do it again next year but maybe get a bigger cabin.  There weren't a ton of cabins available by the time I booked ours in October.
We got home and settled back in with our girls (who had had a FABULOUS time with Aunt Patty) then it was gingerbread house making time...

Friday the 7th we went with our field trip group caroling at an assisted living facility.  I hadn't even thought about the fact that it might be difficult for me to go and do something like that but as soon as we got to the first room to sing I immediately started thinking about my Dad.  It kind of took be by surprise and I just wasn't prepared for that.  I did manage to get through the whole day but it was hard.
I needed some puppy therapy when I got home so took Honey on a drive to the feed mill and back. She's a good therapy dog.  I really miss my dad, and Ricky's dad... the holidays seem to accentuate the fact that they're not here.

Saturday the 8th I took the kids over to our old stomping grounds at Terre Hill park for a Christmas in the park they were having this year.  It was so fun and the kids loved it.

We took Honey with us again and she even went on a wagon ride with us :)
More puppy pictures...
