Family Trip to Gettysburg!

Saturday morning in the middle of August, Ricky and I were sitting on the porch drinking our coffee and he mentioned that he thought we should all go to Gettysburg the next day on a family trip.  I thought it sounded like an awesome idea and called Patty to float the idea to her. She agreed too and called a van rental place to see if they had one available for us. They just so happened to have one left! So apparently it was "meant to be" :D
Sunday morning we all piled in the big 15-passanger van and headed out west :)
Katy took a bunch of pictures during this trip too and they are included in this post.

I find wearing masks very annoying but they had actual mask police at the entrance to the museum so we all complied this time and avoided arrest :P
Aunt Patty actually bought the girls some really cute masks and they really liked wearing them, haha!

The movie is very moving and it's really neat to reflect on some of what made our country into what it is today. After the movie you go to an upstairs area and get to view the very large 3-D painting of the battle field and it's so awesome!

After that we walked around the rest of the museum.

Of course we had to visit the gift shop too :P
Some very kind strangers were nice enough to take a picture for us with Honest Abe.
We went out to eat and then drove to downtown Gettysburg and walked around the one battlefield.

Dexter, Dominic and Alma had never been to Gettysburg so it was really nice to experience it with them for their first time.

I found a dog to pet 😆
And then we headed home. It was a long, tiring day but so much fun too.  Ricky and I got a family membership so hopefully we can use that a couple more times this year. There was a lot that we were not able to get to in the one day that we were there.
