Terrible Tornado

I'm not sure if I'm going to be able to get my pictures on this post or not. I'll try. I'm typing this up at the Clinic because we have no power at my house and are not expected to have it for a few days.

Last night Patty called and wanted to go with Chase and I to the New Holland Library for a program they were having about bugs at 6:30pm. So we went there and it was fun. The kids really liked it. They had a tarantula and hissing cockroaches that were bigger than the ones in Bangladesh. They had also brought a millipede that was like an inch thick and really long. The lady was just holding it like it was a puppy or something. Ew. Chase kept saying, "Bug-ck".

Anyway, it had started to rain when we got there and after the program was over it was still raining really hard and the sky looked kinda green so we decided to wait a little while. We went to the top floor of the library where there was a band practicing and Chase and Dominic danced in the lobby for a while.
We finally left around 7:30pm and on the drive home there was a lot of flooding on the roads and branches down, etc. We decided to stop at Ricky's parents to talk to them and their backyard looked terrible! They had a bunch of locust trees in the back and a bunch had been uprooted and even more where snapped in half!
I went home then to see what had happened at my house and it was a wreck. There had been a tornado that went right though our back yard and the two big maples that are back there dropped so many branches. Thankfully there was no damage to our house or outbuildings. Our neighbors had a branch fall on their house and a house in town lost it's roof. Main street is completely shut down because of all the debris everywhere. We are not expected to have power for a few days either. Ricky is going to bring a generator home from work this evening. He is hoping to come home a little earlier today to try and start the cleanup process. I don't even know what we are supposed to do with all the stuff. Ricky had to go get a generator last night to pump out the basement which had flooded.

Chase wasn't phased by it. He walked in the backyard and said, "tree... mess!" Yes, buddy this is a mess. Anyway, I think that is all for now.

Crazy! I'm glad you guys are okay! I'm surprised the pressure change didnt send you into labor. That would not be very good timing for you- but it's been known to happen. Be careful cleaning up!

I don't know whether to tell you are lucky to get rain or what. It thundered and lightning was flashing, but we didn't get rain. Wendell had borrowed my hoses to water his new lawn, so I "beeped" him and asked if he could bring them back. I need to water my raspberries. I'm glad you are OK and your house wasn't damaged. Darryl said today they had hail in Blandon where he lives! Grandma

Wow, Amy, glad to hear you all are ok, and no major damage. But from the looks of the pix there is much clean up to be done. Yes, the little ones seem to fly right through that kind of stuff.
Sounds like the library thing was fun. Our little library here is Rising Sun was like that, they always had really cool stuff for the kids. Our guys spent a lot of time there. That was one of the first places I took them when we moved to Rising Sun. Our librarian was also our mayor. It was pretty cool. Good luck with your clean up stuff.
