A Timely Sermon

We had a guest speaker in church today. He gave a very timely, encouraging message about the current times and what we should think/do. He gave three points;
1. We need to recognize the sovereignty of God over the political process and the economic crisis.- Romans 13:1 says Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God. Therefore do not be anxious- our Father knows what we need. John Piper said, "Anxiety shows we are too close to the world and too far from God."
2. We need to recognize our responsibilities as citizens.- We need to be informed about issues and the people in power but not be obsessed with it. Where God speaks clearly we should speak clearly (IE. abortion, gay marriage, etc.) We need to pray for our country and leader, honor the governing authority and not speak against them.
3. We need to recognize our ultimate citizenship is in God's kingdom.- Only His kingdom is eternal... Put your home in something that cannot be taken away.
It was such a good message and a good reminder to trust God in everything and all things.

Joanna has grown so much this last week, you would not believe it. I really want to get her on video laughing but she never does it when I turn on the camera. I was so busy yesterday. I went and got all our grocery shopping done in the morning. I really didn't want to go on a Saturday but Ricky was home all day Friday and hunting all day yesterday soooo...
In the afternoon I cleaned the whole house really good. It needed it so bad and i had been putting it off for a while but it felt good when I was done. It looks really nice in here now too, even Ricky noticed:)
Today our Church celebrated it's 7 year anniversary! Yeah! I am amazed every week how we keep growing more and more. I remember when Ricky and I first started going 5or 6 years ago there was hardly anybody and today we had a hard time finding seats! Praise the Lord!

I'm glad you have a good church. Our pastor had a good message, too. He preached that there are more things of importance than the election. I have my notes in the car, but I do remember the most important thing is to pray for our leaders. I think he used some of the same scripture that your pastor did. See you tomorrow. I'm just sorry you will be there without the little ones.
