The Dreaded Nuk

I haven't been getting much sleep the last couple of weeks. A couple weeks ago Joanna was up quite a bit during the night wanting to nurse and I let her because she was fighting a little cold, well she made it a habit and ever since then has been up every 3 hours at night. I've never been one to let them "cry it out", I just can't do it, so I would nurse her every time she would wake up. However, I've come to the end of my rope and can't do it anymore. I've been so tired and grumpy during the day and haven't been able to get anything done and have been snapping at all of my loved ones for very small crimes. So I broke down and bought a pacifier.
I didn't even have one in the house because when Chase was a baby I found out that I had been feeding him wrong for 4 months and took all the pacifiers out of the house by way of the trash can. I've never really liked seeing kids with the things either, so I was dead set against them, but you know people do crazy things on 3-4 hours of sleep a night for 2-3 weeks. I was surprised that she actually took it and likes it. I only give it to her in the middle of the night though. So far it seems to be working pretty good. She now goes from 9:00pm to 6:00am with out nursing, that's more like it.
Anyway, that is why I haven't felt like blogging for a while. I have a lot of things I need to do in the next couple days. I still need to get 2 presents and clean my house(that has been sorely neglected too) and get all the food ready for the gatherings coming up. I hope everyone has a Merry Christmas and remembers, amidst all the busy-ness, the reason we all celebrate this special day. Thank you Lord for sending Jesus to save us! Aren't we all so blessed?!

Amy, you are so cute! I was anti pacifier too for a bit...but then Maddie was so happy with one :) So when AJ came I tried one with him and he refused it! Thank goodness for his thumb! I'm glad you're sleeping better :) xoxo

Alex always had his- starting at about 6 months is when he really started liking it- and I didnt mind it. A few weeks after Danica really figured out how to nurse all of her feedings, she wouldnt take one anymore. There were nights I would just beg her to take it, just so she would calm down, but she wouldnt. She occasionally will find one now and suck on it for a few hours, but she isnt at all attached. I know there were a lot of reasons she was such a hard baby, but I always thought that a binky would have made things a little bit easier.
I do not like- at all- how much she likes a bottle again. It's driving me nuts- but she has to drink her nasty special formula and about 95% of the time she will only drink it warmed up in a bottle. Once things settle down after Christmas, I'm making it a serious goal to get rid of the bottles.

I think Joanna looks kinda cute with it (said sheepishly). When Abbey was a baby, she often had a pacifier in her mouth and one in each hand or as many as those little fingers could hold. I think it helped with her strong desire to put things into her mouth as well as her many ear infections. Anyway, she doesn't use one any more and her teeth are just fine ;)

I can't believe Joanna takes a pacifier. I tried it with some of my kids, but it would make them angry and they would spit it out. Oh, well, I didn't have the trouble with them sleeping at nights and you really need your rest. See you Saturday.

She's adorable - EVEN with a pacifier in her mouth!

I went from being against the paci with my first to really trying to force them to take one with the rest. So far 2 of the six haven't taken one, and they have been my fussiest. Now of course Eli, who just turned three is addicted, but that is another story. I am right there with you with the lack of sleep, sure makes it hard to have a happy heart sometimes. Merry Christmas to all of you. And I think she looks cute with the paci. Cute and quiet and happy! :)
