Nice, right? no? Haha- just kidding. I've just been practicing and trying to learn all the different stitches. I've done single crochet, half double crochet, double crochet and a granny square (are you asleep yet?). this is one of my first attempts at a granny square.
and here is my latest one.
I think I'm getting it. I need to get some pattern books so I can actually make stuff now. How did I learn to crochet, you ask? from youtube, of course. what would I do without my computer? Anyway, the crochet is nice because I can do it while I nurse the baby. I know how to knit but I couldn't do that while nursing because the needles are so long.
Last Saturday, Ricky and I went to get our taxes done and it turns out we are going to be getting quite a lot back on our return (I guess having a baby and buying a house helped with that). So we decided that we are going to outfit ourselves for our camping trip this spring and save the rest. I don't know if you remember that we went on a week long camping trip last year but we are doing the same thing again this year. However we really needed a new, bigger tent for all four of us so this is what we got.
We also got Chase his own sleeping bag since Joanna will have to sleep with me this year and a propane tent heater (oh yeah!). I wanted to get a portable coffee maker but Ricky thought that would be a little overkill. We are getting so excited for this trip. This will be the third year in a row that we've done it too. This year, we added a 4 night stay at Ricketts Glen to the beginning of the trip.
Yesterday I taped off the dining room and got it all ready to paint. I'm going to paint all the edges at least today, and see how much further I can get. I got the same color as the living room. I wanted to do something special in there but couldn't decide what so I'll just paint it for now till I decided.

What a great looking tent. It looks like you guys are putting that money to good use. I don't see the mother-in-law suite though. Does that cost extra?
Yay crochet! Check out etsy.com for some great patterns.
Love your crocheting! Good luck with the new hobby!
What a great hobby to pick up. I learned crochet basics and was getting into it about 5 years ago but haven't had the time lately. I hope to pick it up again sometime.
A portable coffeemaker overkill for camping? NEVER! Camping without waking up to a nice hot cup of coffee just isn't right. I say get the coffee maker!
Hey Amy, I'm proud of you learning crocheting. I like to knit, too, but crocheting is faster, although you have more variety of stitches with knitting. I bet Ricky was home today. You could put him to work painting! Wendell was over a little this afternoon, so I bet Ricky was home, too. Your second patch you showed was much nicer. It looks like you learned to keep it even. Keep it up.
Amy,
you are such an inspiration...busy little homemaker.
Love you,
Mom
You're so crafty, Amy. :)
Have fun painting!
That tent looks big enough to throw dinner parties. And now I think I'll go ask Jesse if he wants to go camping when it's warm enough. if you have money to save, you should definitely get the coffee maker. If there was ever a time when I really needed coffee, it was when I was camping. :)
