Giving Thanks and Snow Bunnies

OK, OK, I'm sorry I haven't blogged in a while. I didn't really take a lot of pictures lately because I hate my camera right now. So I broke down and started taking pictures with my cell phone. Plus I've been super busy this last week from hunting season and going out several times with Ricky. So I apologize ahead of time because this is going to be a long one.
Thursday, Thanksgiving day, I hosted Ricky's family at our house. This was actually the 5Th year in a row that I did Thanksgiving too! We still remember fondly the ones we had in NY at our "stick house", as Dominic used to call it.

Can you believe we ever left? One of the things we are most thankful for however is our wonderful families and I really don't know what we would do if we lived further away from them. So Patty and Alma brought some things to help out with the meal and Ricky and I had a competition to see who could have the best tasting turkey. Ricky had shot a wild turkey a week before thanksgiving and I told him that I refused to cook it so he said he would and ended up getting really into it. He borrowed a smoker from his co-worker and put it in at 10:00pm the night before and then kept waking up every couple hours to check it. The last couple hours he put it on the grill to bring it up to temperature. However it still tasted "gamey" to me and my Aldi turkey definitely won the competition.

Carving the turkey

The "spread". Everything was so good and we had cheesecake for dessert and sang Happy Birthday to Ricky whose birthday was the 30Th. After lunch Rochelle(Dexter's niece) and I decorated the Christmas tree and then we all just hung out, played games and had fun.
On Friday we drove down to NJ to be with my family. It was a very fun day as well. My mom had asked a girl who is studying photography in college to come take some family pictures for us and I think the turned out great. I still have to get the CD of over 90 pictures from my mom but here are a few.
One of my favorites of me and my sisters:

Boy, you can hardly even tell we are related (ha ha).
The whole family!...

Our little family of four...

After our fabulous dinner Joanna walked all around with these sparkly high heals on for a while. She's got a thing for shoes, the first thing I have to do when she get up is put her shoes on her! So funny.

Chase and his older cousins had the opportunity to spend the night at my parents house and sleep in a tent in their spare room. He was so excited and did very well, I was a wreck. Can you believe that was the first night he was away from me!? It was good though and Joanna sure enjoyed being an "only child" for a day. I went and picked him up the next evening at my sister's house.
So Monday started hunting season in PA and I was actually able to go with Ricky this year seeing as I'm not pregnant or breastfeeding and it's the first time in four years! Monday morning Ricky went out by himself and shot a doe so he came home and wanted to take me out in the afternoon. His mom came over and we went out, I shot at a doe that was pretty close but missed and was/am very annoyed with myself for that. We went out for a while on Tuesday and then Friday but didn't see anything. Well I did see one squirrel on Friday but it wasn't close enough to shoot ;) This morning Ricky went out with his dad and his dad's friends and they both shot a doe.

Ricky said we'll probably go out together again next Saturday which will be the last day so I'll get another shot at it and hopefully redeem myself.
So I am just tickled to death that it is snowing right now, I bundled the kids up and we were out playing in it a while. Joanna LOVES the snow and did not want to come inside!

Chase was running away from me because he just pegged me with a snowball. So now I'm starting to really get in the Christmas spirit. I was wrapping presents while it was snowing and singing, "Fa-la-la" :D Tomorrow evening we are going to the Church Nativity with Ricky's family and I'm so excited!

No Problem Amy, you sure did have a busy week. Congrats to Ricky for getting 2 already. Now you have to catch up. Rod just got his hunting license again for the first time in years and I'd like to get out there with him. But instead of a gun, I'll be carrying my camera. That will be just as much fun in my opinion. See you soon.

Nice post Amy. I was wondering when you would post...you were due for an update...heehee. I love Joanna's snow outfit. Was it really wierd to be away from Chase? How did he do when he came home? Did he act homesick or say he missed you or was he fine? Mom said the kids had a good time together so maybe it was just you that was going through withdraw. He's growing up Amy! It happens too fast.

Your pics are great. And by the way Amy, do you remember my niece Edna, Aunt Sis' daughter? She shot her first buck ever and was so excited. She has pictures on her facebook. I don't know if yoy are her "friend" but she is Enda Yoder Mauer.

Hey, we have the same background! Was that a coincidence or did you copy me?! :)
Is this snow crazy or what? Christian and the kids built this huge snowman in the back yard this afternoon. It's so funny!

Dawn, I don't think Chase missed me at all when he slept over mom's. He barely even said "hi" when I came to get him! However he and Jo did miss me when I was gone hunting this week so that made me feel better:)
Christy- you must have copied me this time :) I had this one since before thanksgiving.

Yeah, they miss you when you are gone but not when they are gone. Stinkers. :)
