This is so sad, I've had this post in the works for over a week now! It's just been so busy around here. Today is so hot and sticky that I'm staying inside and determined to finally finish this post.
Projects: We have quite a few going right now. On the 12Th Christy and Christian came over to help Ricky cut down a big maple tree in our back yard that had been dieing for a while. They(Ricky and Christian) actually finished a lot sooner than I was expecting them to. We kept the trunk and some of the branches with the intention of building a tree house in there. Who knows when we'll get to that.
My parents also came up in the afternoon to have dinner with us and celebrate Naomi, Chase and Joanna's birthdays.

I made a very last minute cake that looked a mess but tasted good nonetheless. I called it crumble cake and pretended I did it on purpose :) My Mom got the kids' these Pillow Pets and they love them:
They sleep on them every single night and the crazy thing is that they've slept through the night ever since she gave them to them! Guess that's all we ever needed :)
Penny had her puppies the next day after all the excitement. She had 2 males and 1 female which is a good litter for a Yorkie and they are all very happy and healthy.
I think I have them all sold already too! They are always kinda noisy when they are in labour and so we all needed to get out of the house for a while and went to the park where Ricky and Chase roller bladed for a little.
It's been so hot lately, hence the shirtlessness. But he does really good on the Rollerblades and I think we're soon going to upgrade him to real ones. I don't really remember what we did during the week last week but I'm sure it was more work than play. On Friday we went to Ricky's cousin's wedding. It was a very nice wedding, which I can't really go into details about on here but they did take off from the ceremony in a helicopter which was very cool and I had been wishing that Chase was there to see it.
Saturday, Ricky started another project. It just so happened that he would have access to a little mini-track hoe and dump truck last weekend and the wall to our basement stairs had been slowly caving in for a while. In fact every time it would rain it would come in some more, so Ricky decided to fix it before it was an emergency situation. You can't really tell in this picture because of all the concrete dust but it had come in almost an inch already.
So Ricky took out a 3 foot section of patio and dug down with the track hoe and then knocked the wall out of there. He and his friend are going to build a new wall with re-bar reinforcements this weekend but until then there is a lovely gaping hole in my patio that doesn't make me nervous at all :P
He is also fixing the drainage problem that was causing the whole wall pushing in problem in the first place. He has quite the elaborate plan worked out too, I'm so impressed. While Ricky had that track hoe he also knocked over that old grill fireplace thing that was falling apart.
Oh and the weekend my parent's came up they also brought us our "new" minivan. That's right, we are now minivan drivers! I tried really hard to fit 3 car seats in the back of my Jetta but it just wouldn't work. My dad helped us find this van which we got for a really good deal and it's actually not that bad!
Honestly, I do like it- it's so nice and roomy and has lots of storage and drives very nice. Ricky put a new cd/radio player in it for me but the cd player doesn't work so... bummer. Now we just need to sell my car which seems to be taking a bit longer than I would have hoped, but I suppose these things do take time.
I have the whole weekend off this weekend and am very excited to get a lot of things done that I've been putting off. In the spring I had put a seed mixture in these two planters in front of the house and despite my sporadically enthusiastic watering they have actually started blooming!

I wonder where Ricky had access to a back hoe! I think your blue flower is a bachelor button, right? Now I will ask you- did I send Chase's birthday card, because if I missed it he will get it late. I read your Mom's blog and I'm not sure if I sent Chase and Naomi's cards. I must notate those I send or I forget! Too much heat from picking black raspberries!! Good excuse.
Go Ricky!! I can't wait to see your project.
Grandma- I think that's a good excuse! no he didn't get one from you though, that's ok :)
