April 12th I took the kids to Landis Valley Farm and Museum for a little field trip. My mom and sister Christy, and her kids, drove up to meet us and we had a very fun day. Ricky and the kids and I had been there last fall for an apple harvest festival but hadn't really gotten to see what the farm was all about. I couldn't believe how much there was to see and do. We went on a Thursday but they still had most of the buildings open and staffed with demonstrators.
This was at the tin smith.My kids might be a little young to get a lot out of field trips yet but we have fun and it's nice to spend time with my sister and mom when we can.
At the general store:
We were able to go on a wagon ride all around the farm.
We ate lunch there in the picnic area and then walked around some more. I think we ended up leaving around 2 or 3 Katy was pretty tired but there had been a lot to look at so that helped keep her happy :)
Monday the 16th I met a friend at the Philly zoo for the day. It turned out to be pretty hot actually but it was nice and the kids love the zoo. My friend had family passes too so we ended up getting in for free which was awesome :P
I wish this picture showed how big this turtle actually was, he was huge!
The kids had been excited to see a crocodile... the whole way down they had talked about how excited they were.I liked the monkey house.
My two little monkeys:
We ate lunch there too and walked around for about 4 hours!
Chase, pretending to be a tiger after the big cat exhibit.
I just missed getting a picture of this tiger right in front of us :/

"Cheeeeese":
Saturday the 21st I had a 5k race in New Holland. It was a lot of fun. I finished right in the middle in 28:38, which was a personal best for me. I had told Ricky I wanted to finish in 28 minutes so I was glad to meet my goal. The kids were very excited about it all too :P
There was quite the variety of people who came out for it too. Ricky had to take a picture of this Amish girl who finished ahead of me. There were several Amish women in dresses and an Amish man with a full beard and hat... only in Lancaster county :PAfter my race we came home so I could shower and then went out again for Chase's t-ball practice. Katy had woken up early that morning and was so exhausted Ricky put her to sleep in the van during practice!
Chase had his first t-ball game last week on Thursday. They don't keep score or anything but he is really enjoying playing this year. And he looks adorable in his uniform :)
Yesterday was the first day for Spring turkey hunting. Our friends Keith and Ronda had invited us to go out with them on the first day so the kids spent the night at Ricky's parents' house and we left bright and early Saturday morning at 1:30am. We got up there just before daybreak and walked around the woods all morning. We didn't see or hear any turkeys :/ It was a lot of fun though. The GPS said we only hiked 3.15 miles but it seemed like A LOT further because of the kind of hiking we were doing. We ended up getting home around 5:30 and the kids promplty got baths and went to bed, they were exhuasted. Ricky's dad said that Chase and Dominic had gotten up at 4:30 that morning and not taken naps!

I think those Amish should get extra credits for running in all those clothes! Good for you. Great accomplishment.
