January 2014

We were able to use our ice rink a bunch in January and had a lot of fun out there!  For a while it was only strong enough to hold Chase so he would go out by himself and skate in the morning before school :)
This must have been in the beginning of the month, before we got snow.  We've had snow on the ground for a long time now, I forget what the grass looks like!
One Sunday evening we were all able to go out there and had some neighbor kids join us as well.  It was lots of fun.
Joanna is doing amazing on her skates now!
Peaches loves the snow and the ice rink... and meeting new people :)
The two partners in crime...
It was pretty cold out there some days but we went out anyway.  We've been keeping the hot chocolate k-cups and mini marshmallows in stock here!
Chase's skating and hockey skills have improved so much this year it's awesome so see!
He still goes to hockey once a week and we really like the program they have up there.  They put him in with the 8-10 year old group and he definitely holds his own!
A couple days last month it got a bit warmer and we tried to take advantage of those days too.  I took all my kids plus Dominic and his friend to the park and we roller bladed and played roller hockey for over an hour.  Katy wasn't a fan of skating... look at that face!
Haha!
One Sunday after church we took the kids and Peaches on a short hike.
Peaches kept getting upset that she was getting left behind so I eventually let her off her leash.  She did pretty well staying with us too!
The crochet business has slowed down a bit since Christmas is over but it's been fine really.  We've been so busy with other things and I've been getting just enough orders that I'm not overwhelmed.  I got this order for an adorable bunny costume for a photo prop and I thought the hat was just too cute I had to make Katy one with the leftover yarn:
The photographer was nice enough to share the photos she got and I love them so much! Check them out HERE!
We also went to the Library a couple times last month for programs. They have a lego night once a month that Chase and Jo have been to before but I just realized that Katy is actually old enough for it too!  I wasn't sure if she would want to do it since she never plays with legos here but she was really in to it!
Did you know that they make pink and purple legos?  I didn't even know that but of course that's the ones Joanna used for her "swan lake".
Later that week we went back to the library for a moon program.  The librarian was very excited about some real moon rocks she was able to borrow and there were lots of other activities for the kids to do.  They were supposed to make the different phases of the moon with oreos here and then they could eat them:
The moon rocks:
there was extra security there and then she locked the rocks up in her safe after the program was over. Serious stuff!
We rode down in the elevator to visit the kids lego creations and get some books and this is how the kids always ride in elevators. They are too funny!
