Our first stop was a table to make our own "factory worker" hats. The girls hats took a long time to make but they were pretty happy with them when they were finished :P
Joanna decorated her hat even though the lady told her that "none of the other kids are decorating their hats". Well, we don't like to do what everyone else is doing :P
After that we went and ate a quick lunch in a room they provided for us before heading into the small museum area. It was pretty cool and geared towards younger children which was good since we had a lot of those with us :P
Being a factory worker is fun. The kids thought the idea of earning $.10 an hour sounded pretty good and were ready to go to work!
Learning about the whole chocolate making process:
We then went to the upstairs part of the museum, which is geared more towards adults. The kids pretty much ran through that part until they found this huge interactive map. You could click on a building and find out more about the building and project pictures and videos up on the walls. They spent a lot of time in this room and it was nice because it gave Ronda and I a little break.
The last part upstairs was the pretend assembly line. Katy was very serious about getting all of the "candy" in her box. I think she might have thought it was real candy that she was going to take with her.
The last part of our day was the Chocolate Lab where the kids got to make their own candy bars.
Poor Katy had waited so patiently all day for some chocolate, I kept telling her, "in a little bit", "pretty soon", "just after this one thing", and so on. As the kids were going in to the Chocolate lab I could see her start to lose it so I dropped them off and Katy and I RAN to the gift shop to get her some much needed sweets :P
She and I sat outside the "Lab" and ate our chocolate happily.
So happy, lol...
