It's spring! Hurrah!

So I've been busy with lots of spring like stuff and haven't had time to post here! I'm almost done planting the vegetable garden and cleaning out my flower beds (along with trimming all the bushes) but then we'll have to mulch everything.  There's a huge pile of mulch (that I won for free!) sitting in our driveway as I type this!  March 20th is the official first day of Spring and we celebrate it like a holiday around here.  I don't do Easter baskets for the kids so last year I started this new tradition of doing spring baskets.  The kids love it, obviously, and I love seeing their reactions :)
They got things other then candy too, although the bracelet on the left was a gift from my parents from their Hawaii trip.
Jelly beans are THE BEST THING EVER!
We've had some nice spring days here and there but it's been pretty windy so that makes it seem colder then it is I guess. We've still been able to spend a lot of time outside though, our favorite place.
It took a long time for all that snow to melt!
my lettuce and kale in pots this year:
We took a drive to see the Snow Geese this year, which was pretty interesting.
I made myself a "spring" sweater.
and got myself a Spring haircut...
I dyed the milk blue for April fools day.  Apparently this was the most hilarious joke ever :P
The kids were digging in the garden for about 3 days straight.  I was bragging to Ricky about what great helpers they were and Joanna said, "yeah, it's because we want money." haha! apparently they think being helpful will earn them more allowance :P
I extended the flower bed that was behind the garage to make room for some peonies and dahlias, and also weeded it and ended up with my first hives of the season.  You can actually see the line where my gloves stopped. This summer should be fun, sigh.
We got three chicks at the hardware store the other day. They are so cute and the kids have been spending a lot of time with them!
They will be white hens so we'll get some white eggs with our brown eggs now.
They're still in the basement right now but I think I'll arrange their accommodations outside this weekend.
