Strasburg Railroad, 2014

On September 11th, Ronda and I decided to try and use up some more of our tickets that we had received for doing the summer reading program at the libraries.  We had planned to meet at Barnyard Kingdom first thing in the morning but quickly realized that they were not open on Thursdays.  Well our tickets for there expired the very next day but it didn't work for us to go back then so we just threw them away and headed over to Strasburg railroad to use our train ride tickets.  We got to the railroad before we were able to purchase tickets and so decided to pop down the road and walk around the Choo-choo barn to kill some time.
I think we walked around 4 times.

We then went over to the railroad again, got our tickets and walked around a while before getting on the train.
They were gearing up to have Thomas there that weekend and so we got to see the Thomas stuff without having to deal with crazy crowds.

Apparently though, Thomas and friends are not cool anymore :P
Ready for our ride:
The ride itself is really lovely, you travel through rolling farmland on the restored train cars and we had a lovely day for it. Not too hot and not too cold :)
Partway though the ride they give you the option to disembark at a picnic grove and be picked up in an hour.
We got off and had our lunches and then the kids played on the merry-go-round the rest of the time!
Caleb found all these chestnuts which we later cooked up and they were very yummy!
It was such a lovely day and an hour went by pretty quickly!
going back to the station:
They had Thomas hidden behind the buildings, but we saw him for free, haha! :P
After getting back we got ice cream from one of the stores there and chatted some more before heading home.
