Hunting season, 2014

So Ricky and I spent our Thanksgiving together in Virginia this past year!  We had decided to book a hunt for ourselves and Thanksgiving was really the only time that worked for us to get away.  It was a very fun and interesting time together, although we didn't sit together to hunt we were never very far away from each other either.  It was very interesting hunting down there too, much different from PA woods!
We had a bunk house all to ourselves and the hosts were very nice and really good cooks!  This was the common room where we ate, hung out and watched TV.
It was beautiful weather for us but unfortunately we didn't see many deer.

Ricky saw one deer the whole time and he shot it :P  They ended up tracking it with a dog the next day and that was very interesting to see.
The weekend after we got back Ricky got his PA buck.  So we had two deer for the freezer!  We ended up processing our own meat this year too and saved ourselves probably $400 in butchering fees.
Last year we shared a lease nearby with one of Ricky's friends and were able to take our little buddy out hunting a bunch of times.  He always sat with Ricky in a tree stand and the one time almost got a shot at a BIG buck!  It definitely got his blood pumping anyway :P
I got this awesome, warm coat at the end of the season for a steal, but didn't end up getting any shots at deer this year, although I did see some.
Ricky ended up making this cool piece of decor out of his Virginia and PA buck, plus one from the previous year.  He's so crafty :)
