Texas!

February 14th my sister, her friend and I flew out of Philly for a long planned and anticipated trip to Texas.
We landed in the afternoon and were able to get our rental car and then find a Whole Foods to get some snacks for ourselves. Then we headed down to Waco where we were going to spend the night. We Decided to try this restaurant called Twisted Root and were a little worried since it was Valentine's day but we were able to order our food and get a table right away.
The food and atmosphere were so good. Christy's friend ordered friend pickles and it was such a big pile of them we all were eating from them but still weren't able to finish them! They were really good though and the chipotle sauce they came with was amazing.
I had a burger called "the big Tex" and it had guacamole and bacon and onion straws and was DELICIOUS.
We were all pretty tired after all the traveling so went to bed and set our alarms for bright and early the next morning to try and make it over to Magnolia Table by 7am.  Surprisingly we managed to do it and were able to go right in and sit down right away. The place was beautiful and service was exceptional.

The food was really good as well. We had a table right by the door and were getting a kick out of how excited people would be walking in to the restaurant.

We hung out there for a while just drinking coffee and chatting and then decided to head over to the silo's. By the time we left the restaurant there was a line wrapped around the building outside! Our waiter said that a normal weekend they will have a 2-4 hour wait all day long.
The silo's didn't open until 9am so we had some time to wander around and check things out.

so jealous of these amazing raised beds and the greenery!

We went into the seed shop first and it was very cute.
I got myself a t-shirt and Christy got herself a really cool air plant and wood pot.

We then went into the bakery because the line wasn't super long there. All of the treats looked really good and they were very efficient at getting people through their little bakery.
Once in a while we will watch Fixer Upper on HGTV and every time we do when Ricky is around he rolls his eyes so hard every time they talk about "shiplap". So of course when they had a cupcake named shiplap in the bakery I had to get it and take a picture to send to Ricky 😂
By then the line going into the main store had dissipated so we went in to check that out.

after we looked around a while we got into the car and drove up to Frisco, 2 hours, for the start of our conference. There were some pre-conference sessions at our hotel and those were really good.  Our conference started later after dinner time and we walked in and were blown away at how the stage looked.
I texted Ricky a picture laughing about how we must have accidentally signed up for a rock concert. Well the conference started and then I was really laughing because it WAS a rock concert 😂
They had a band there, called The Hunts, that was really good and seven siblings, who had all been home schooled. They each played so many different instruments it was really neat. There were several speakers and they very uplifting and encouraging. All in all it was a really good conference.

There was a lady at the conference who showed us these really cool acorns from a Burr Oak tree. We drove around Saturday night looking for these trees but didn't really know what we were looking for :P We finally decided to drive back to where the conference had been and Christy's friend and I walked around in the dark and drizzly rain looking and we finally ended up finding some.
We had a really nice hotel in Frisco that provided us with free breakfast and free dinner!  The breakfasts were pretty good too :)
Sunday morning it was time to leave. I had to take pictures of this artwork for the kids to see.
