I'm starting to think I should have taken a time-lapse video of my pollinator garden growing this summer. This was taken at the beginning of the month and it continues to look great and fill out more and more as the month went on.
Joanna started taking her Horse riding lessons and loves them so.It was such a hot, dry month I had to try and water my garden.
I ended up getting one more hose extension and then was able to water the whole thing a lot easier. One of the kids has to help me more the ladder but it works :P
Katy had decided that she wanted to get rid of her bunny because he wasn't very nice and got $15 for him at the feed mill. She took her money and got herself a Chinese hamster at That Fish Place That Pet Place and it's super adorable.
Well a week later she decided it was too much work to keep and sold Bitsy to Joanna for $5. Joanna said it was the best $5 she ever spent and then Katy was jealous of Joanna that she had a hamster 😆🙈We had a 4th of July party here with Patty and Dexter and the kids had so much fun.
In the evening we sat on the porch and set off fireworks and listened to all the neighbors set off fireworks, it seemed like every single one of our neighbors had a huge supply of them :D
Sunday the 5th we finally got together with my whole side of the family. The kids love being with their cousins
We found a couple new fishing spots with some friends of ours.
And I got a lot of canning accomplished! My one discount grocery store had tomatillos for a quarter a pound so I got 20lbs and canned a lot of Salsa Verde.
I finally was able to take Joanna on a longer float trip. We went to Speedwell Forge. I found another drop in spot along the Juniata river that I want to try this summer yet but we had fun this day.
More butterfly garden pictures....
swamp milkweed and white milkweed I found this spring:
Ricky had done some more work with a mini excavator and needed to get rid of some more big boulders so added them to the garden. I wasn't happy about it at first but I've gotten used to it now :P
Ricky and Chase made this cool bow holder for while they're shooting in the backyard. It's pretty neat!
Katy has become quiet the archer!
Lots of green beans in July...
and beef broth
Joanna's horse riding lessons are at a day camp near us and they have a nice fishing pond, so Chase likes coming along to fish during her lesson.
some friends met us there a few hours beforehand and we swam in the pool which was so nice!
Ricky started making me a grape vine trellis
Persimmon tree:
Started getting some peppers:
Joanna dug up part of the yard and made a little flower garden this spring :D
Made myself a sloth succulent plant holder:
Flowers from the greenhouse:
My pumpkin plant is so awesome:
Chase and I continue to work at the farm. The heat of the summer is not fun to milk in but we're getting through it. These two girls are twins that were born during one of our shifts, so cute:)
One time I came home from work and found this girl in my bathtub watching cartoons 😂
I think I might have enough plants in there now...
Got this new air plant and cool ladle from my favorite greenhouse:
Lima beans started coming in at the end of the month.
lots of pumpkins hiding under the leaves in the garden
dug up my onions. They didn't get very big for me but are better than previous years when they just rotted in the ground!
and finished with the green beans.
Poppy keeps growing bigger and bigger and has been getting into the chickens food.
So we tried to make her a new space separate from the chickens but she keeps escaping!
I think I will be more stubborn than the pig though and figure out how to finally keep her in there for good:P
