Bug-ck!

That is how Chase says bug. We've had a lot of them lately. Tis the season I suppose. If he sees an ant in the house he says, "Bug-ck," and then "Kill it, kill it" in a high pitched voice. He then proceeds to try and smush the said ant. They weren't too bad there for a while but this last week the ant population in our house grew out of control. My breaking point came when I was having ants in the dishwasher. That was too much. I immediately went to Walmart and got this stuff called Terro. I knew that would work but I had been avoiding it because it's kinda gross to use. All the ants come out to feast on this stuff and you realize how many there actually are in you house.

Anyway the population is back under control and now we only see one or two a day and I believe they'll probably die out soon.
Wednesday they were calling for rain all day and I really needed to get out and pick strawberries. I finally got out there around 3:30 I think and picked two big mixing bowls full of strawberries! At the end it was sprinkling on me and I could see the rain coming so I was trying to hustle. I was walking inside just as it started to downpour! Chase and I sat on the porch then and watched the cars and trucks splash in the water on the road. Patty and Alma(Ricky's mom) came over in the evening then and we all made jelly together.

We made 24 jars! We even had strawberries left over so we pureed them and each took some home. Ricky and I had waffles with strawberries and whipped cream over them the next night for dinner. Yum! I need to go pick some more this morning too before it gets too hot. I've also been working on weeding the strawberries. That is very time consuming. Clover get tangled up in there so bad. The last week I've been trying to cut all my meadow tea to hang and dry. That is very time consuming too, and kinda boring. I've already picked 4 laundry baskets full of tea and I think there is still 2 more to go! It seems to work well to dry it though. I'm happy with that. I got some spray to use on my roses but Ricky used it all on the potatoes! :) Oh well.
Chase has been sleeping a little better at night this week. I started praying with him at night before I leave the room and I really think that helps. He really likes it and he doesn't cry when I leave the room anymore. Last night he woke up at 4:00 but the night before that he slept all night. Hopefully we'll work back to that. He's been messed up ever since our camping trip. He'll probably start sleeping through the night again and then I'll have the baby and he'll get messed up again. I don't remember the last time I slept all night. It's not always his fault though. Even if he doesn't get up I still wake up.
I better get to work before it gets to unbearably hot out. It's already so muggy though. Yuck.

We had ants like that too a few weeks ago, even in the dishwasher. It was driving me absolutely crazy! They are finally gone though although we still get the occasional stray.

There is stuff that you can spray around the outside of your house that keeps all the bugs out. We need to do it again, but it works for a long time (like 6 or so months each time) I dont know if there is an all natural option, though.
I'm glad he finally slept for you! You need all the rest you can get these last few days/weeks!

Glad you conquered the ants. Can't say I've had that problem, but don't want it either. Sounds like your strawberry season is very productive. Your waffles & strawberries sounds especially yummy. Yes, praying with the little ones before bedtime is very effective and good for them. Glad you started that.
See you soon.
