A Wayward Pooch and a Mexican Standoff

Yesterday morning I went for a walk with the kiddos. We went to the park and Chase ran around there for a little bit. It was so hot though even in the morning. We came home and were both very thirsty and red-faced.
So I had a little bit of a scare yesterday afternoon. After I laid the kids down for a nap I went out to check on the doggies and saw that Penny's gate was open and she wasn't in her kennel! I wandered around our yard and called her but she was nowhere to be seen. I had to wait till Chase woke up from his nap before I could go look for her and I was so worried. I made a sign to put up in the post office in case I didn't find her. I hadn't seen a dead dog on my walk to the park in the morning so I took that as a good sign. After Chase finally woke up I put him in the Jogging stroller and Joanna in the ergo and we started going and knocking on doors and asking the neighbors if they had seen her. Somebody said they had seen a sign up about a found Yorkie puppy so I walked to where they had seen the sign and found her! I was so thankful. I thought I lost her forever. She had gone pretty far, I think she walked through a tobacco field and didn't know how to get back. The man who found her said she was sleeping on his deck by his pond in the morning. I was so glad that no one took her and the man who found her was actually our former landlord (when we were first married).
Mishti and the puppies were all happy to see Penny return. I have to go out and get tags for them. I had been meaning to do it but kept forgetting. I think we decided to name our new puppy Pepper. What do you think? This is Chase carrying her.
I had mentioned briefly in my last post about Chase having some behavioral issues lately. Well last night it came to a head, so to speak. He had dumped his toy box out to get one toy out of the bottom and when I told him to pick it up and clean up the mess he said, "no". Well to make a long story short he finally obeyed but we had probably an hour and a half of crying and spankings and more crying and trying to reason with him and more spankings and more crying. I felt bad because we were in the middle of this standoff when Ricky came home from work. I had really hoped to have it resolved before he came home so he wouldn't be greeted by a crying, disobedient child. We have been working on Chase obeying the first time every time the last couple days. I think He may be fighting a cold or getting another tooth, but really there is no excuse. Last night he went to bed at 8:30 and tonight he went down at 8:00! I hope we get through this phase soon.

Today I actually got to the Chiropractor in the morning for a much needed adjustment. This afternoon I went out and weeded during Joanna's afternoon nap. I did the flower bed around the porch and the one by the mail box. I also cut back the vine on the fence in the backyard and was going to start weeding back there but didn't get to it. We had breakfast for dinner tonight. That is one of my favorite things to make for dinner. We had pancakes and bacon and eggs. Chase really likes pancakes and he eats eggs now too.

Here are some very cute pictures of "Jo-Jo", as we call her.

Chase was thinking about starting his own blog.

Your problem with Chase picking up his toys reminds me of your Mom when she was about Chase's age. She carried on and didn't want to pick up her toys one night at bed time. It lasted at least an hour, too. Grandpa was there and we couldn't get over her stubborness. She was usually the obedient one. So maybe you will have to blame your Mom for this! We had to spank several times, too. Oh the joy of bringing up children! I'm glad you found your puppy. Grandma

Constant training, hmmm, brings back many memories. There were days when I thought that was all I did. Multiply Chase X 5!!! Joanna sure does have hair, wow. She is a cutie. Isn't God good? So glad you were able to find your pooch.
