Hmm, I might have to start blogging more now that I have such a comfortable chair to sit in. JK:) I am so excited about this thing though, really. Last night Ricky and I stayed up and watched the whole Phillies game! It wasn't over until 2:00am! And then this morning Chase woke up early of course so I got all of 4 hours of sleep. I was able to take a little nap after church so I feel ok. It was such an exciting game though. Ricky and I were trying to remember the last time we had stayed up that late and we weren't sure when it was but we know it was pre-baby, that's for sure.
I gave myself a french manicure and pedicure during the game and did a little knitting but I was so anxious that my knitting kept getting tighter and tighter, so I had to stop. I'm up watching game 4 now but Ricky was too tired so he has retired for the evening.

We had a full house earlier this evening. Ricky's parents hadn't seen Joanna in a while so they came over around 4:30 and brought a pumpkin pie with them. We ate some of that and drank coffee and talked a while. Ricky's mom is doing really well. She said she goes to the dr. on Wednesday and is hoping they will tell her she can drive. She held Joanna the whole time she was here though. She absolutely loves babies. I remember if she would babysit Chase she would just hold him the whole time I would be away.
Around 6:00 Patty(Ricky's sister) and Dexter(bro-n-law) and Dominic(neph) stopped in and joined us. We hadn't been together with everyone for a while so it was so nice that they stopped in and hung out with us a little. We polished off the pumpkin pie and cookies and 2 pots of coffee! Chase and Dominic were running around like crazy, having so much fun together.
Everyone left a little after 8:00 and I made them each take a jar of applesauce home with them.
I wanted to share about the message we had this morning at church. We have been so blessed at our church. We have a senior pastor who is so passionate about the word of God, and a new pastoral intern who is just as passionate. Their preaching is always so convicting and uplifting every Sunday. They have been working together on a series in James about Visible Faith. Today CB was pointing out the differences between earthly "wisdom" and heavenly wisdom, taken from James 3:13-18:
13Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show it by his good life, by deeds done in the humility that comes from wisdom. 14But if you harbor bitter envy and selfish ambition in your hearts, do not boast about it or deny the truth. 15Such "wisdom" does not come down from heaven but is earthly, unspiritual, of the devil. 16For where you have envy and selfish ambition, there you find disorder and every evil practice.
17But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere. 18Peacemakers who sow in peace raise a harvest of righteousness.
Earthly wisdom leads to bitter jealousy, self-centeredness, selfish ambition and a whole lot of horrible things- not only is it wrong for us to pursue earthly wisdom, it is demonic(v15)! And yet we pursue it, don't we.
Heavenly wisdom is characterized by meekness, purity, gentleness and humility, mercy and good fruits. Oh how I long to have those things. Lord, help me attain heavenly wisdom, and make my life pleasing in your eyes.

Amy, that's a very interesting sermon and you must have really had it sink in to remember all that.I love the children's pictures. They are so cute. I'm glad Ricky's Mom is feeling better. That is great. As for giving things away- the Gaithers have a great song that says, "Take whatever you have and give it away". The Bible says "It is more blessed to give than receive". But sometimes the people on the receiving end, need to accept the gift and not rob the giver of the blessing. Sometimes it is easier to give than receive.

Great update Amy, isn't it wonderful to have the extended family get together? Your message on Sunday was along the same lines as ours. Ours was about the difference between fools and the wise. It was very good and made Rod & I talk on the way home about being careful not to follow the wisdom of the world and to be open to the instruction of the wise.

Amy I am right there with you! How wonderful to be under such great teaching and always come away convicted and challenged to grow more! I long to be all of those things you highlighted as well. May God do that work in us!
