Spring Shoes

For some reason we've all been getting new shoes around here lately. Joanna needed to move up a size so we got her these cute little flats which she really loves.

She can do the Sign for shoes perfectly too, what a girl. She also got a cute pair of girly Velcro sneakers since she's always used her brother's hand-me-downs.
Chase got a new pair of flip-flops. He loves wearing flip-flops in the summer and his ones from last year were waaay too small. When I was getting them off the shelf at Walmart He said that he didn't like them and wanted his old ones. Well I got them anyway because they are the same exact ones as his old ones just a different color and when we got home he dug them out of the bag and said that they smell nice and he likes them now. What a weirdo :)

Ricky's old sneakers had literally fallen apart so he got himself a pair of $12 ones the other day.

But don't feel bad for him, he also got these really nice hunting boots a while back.

Chase likes them too...

(he's pretty good at that!)
So while the kids were napping today, I went over to this running store to get some much needed new running shoes. I had needed new ones for a couple years and have just been putting it off. This store was really cute though and they evaluate your running style and foot and custom fit you for the best running shoe for you. It was pretty cool. The girl who was helping me looked at my feet and watched me walk and then brought 2 shoes that she said would work well for me and the second pair I tried on were perfect.
She had me go for a short run down the sidewalk and back and watched me as I went and said, "yes, these are the perfect shoes for you." It was pretty cool, and funny. She did say that I over-pronate when I walk/run, which I never knew before. I'm really excited to be able to give them a try, maybe tomorrow the weather will be better. I resisted the urge to buy up all the running gear they had in that cute little store, but I did get a hydration bottle and a pair of socks :)
It seems funny that we all got new shoes around the same time but we all really needed some and Ricky and I will wear our shoes until they die.
Our garden got plowed this last week and that made me happy and think of planting stuff (I didn't though, don't worry). I did rake and clean out the strawberry and meadow tea beds and they look much better now.
This afternoon, Chase and I are going to the Rec center for a craft and game time. Ricky's worried about being home alone with Joanna but I'm sure he'll do fine :) Chase is excited to go hang out with other kids his age. I've been thinking I should sign him up for a preschool this fall but I'm not sure how well that would work out, schedule wise.
Joanna can now get out of her crib, don't know if I mentioned that before. I woke up at 4:00am the other morning to her sitting on my head, pulling my hair, that was a nice way to wake up :P So I guess I may as well switch her to the toddler bed now, since she can get out of her crib anyway. I kinda want to see how she does it first but I'm never there when she does of course.

One of my friends has that over-pronating problem and I think she gets Brooks running shoes. Is that what yours are? The kiddos shoes are cute! I am lucky that my sister has a shoe fettish and no kids, so she's always sending the kids really cute shoes that are a lot nicer than we would buy them :)

All of the shoes are fun but it is those sweet little faces that make me smile ~ could they get any cuter?

Those are some mighty... umm... awesome running shoes you got, Amy! I want to hear you are heading to the Olympics after wearing those babies!

Very cute video of Chase in the hunting boots!

What horrible weather! I bet you didn't run today! I managed to walk 4 days last week and again this week. It was tough getting my two miles in at first, but the second week was easier. I pruned my grape vines one day, cleaned out old dead sunflower stalks and am looking forward to spring. Today is so cold and damp- yuck!

Still running!?! (I was with Grandma on Fri afternoon & Sat, so I know!!) I used to hate it when all the guys needed shoes at the same time, don't know why that happens but it does. We'd be short on cash for a couple weeks.

alison, sorry I had responded to your comment and then just noticed that it wasn't published for some reason. I had tried on a pair of Brooks but didn't like how the toe was. I think it would take me a while to get used to that rocking motion. THe one's I got are Mizuno's I had never really heard much about them but they were definetly the best ones for me. And they weren't cheap so they must be good, right? :)

Well, I'll bet they're good shoes! No - I hadn't heard of the brand but I like to learn a/b running stuff so I can "talk shop" with Mike since he likes to run from time to time :)
