Labor Day Weekend 2010 (and then some)

We had a very busy weekend last weekend. Thursday my sister Dawn came over to keep me company and help me do two batches of applesauce. It was so nice to have her here. We canned the first batch of sauce and then I just froze the second batch. We're running out of room in our chest freezer though! I had enough apples left over for one more batch and I finally just did it today! I froze that batch as well. Dawn ended up staying with Kira until 3:00 before heading home. I think Kira wasn't sure what to think about all the activity at our house :)
She's such a doll though.
Friday, Ricky had the first of 4 days off in a row and took Chase in the morning to his work for a little and then to his favorite place; Cabela's. I kind of forget what all we did the rest of this day.
Chase and Joanna have been really enjoying playing together a lot lately. Maybe it has something to do with the weather being beautiful but they've been very sweet to each other and it's so nice to see them enjoying one another.
The other morning they roller bladed all over the house for at least an hour and then Chase helped Joanna get up in this tree at lunch time.
What good little monkeys :)

Sunday morning we just were not going to make it to church on time so we decided to go antique-ing at the outdoor antique shops near us. Princess Jo sat in her stroller the whole time and I couldn't believe how much Chase loved it. He really liked looking at all the old toys for sale and said he wanted to go antique-ing every day. In the evening we went over to Ricky's parents for a BBQ that they were hosting for us and Ricky's sister and all their deaf friends. Right before we were about to go in for dinner Ricky got stung by a bee and started "not feeling right." He's always been allergic to bee stings and usually swells up like crazy if he gets stung but has never been stung more than once a summer. Well he had been stung a few weeks before and I guess it made his reaction this time really bad. He started breaking out in hives all over and his face got beat read and his ears went shut! So I drove him to the hospital and they shot him up with all sorts of drugs. About a half hour after we got there he started feeling better but he gave us all a good scare there for a little while.

He still had quite the attitude though and was cracking jokes with the nursing staff while they were working on him.

[his first IV ever!] So now he has to keep an Epi-pen with him at all times. I'm thankful that it wasn't worse than it was, which it could have been if he had been stung on the face or multiple times. Just one measly little bee caused all that!
Monday, I had my family over here for a last hooray before baby. C & C and my mom and dad were there. The kids had such a blast playing together.

I didn't take any pictures myself so I had to steal some from my mom.
We had Apricot Glazed pork roast (from the pig we got from C&C), corn, applesauce, biscuits and strawberry jam and mom brought a salad... it was all very yummy and we really enjoyed having everyone here. I sat next to Ricky with a fly swatter in case we saw a bee ;)
Tuesday evening we went to the Birth Center for orientation. We had been through it before when I was pregnant with Jo but I wanted to go through again just because I feel like I'm not really prepared for baby3 mentally yet. On the tour they showed us a birthing tub that they didn't have when I was pregnant the last time and I'm hoping I will be able to use it this time but have to discuss it with my midwife first.
Yesterday afternoon I decided I wanted to take the kids to the pool one last time before it cools off but then realized when we got there that they had already closed the pool. I felt so bad for disappointing them but they played at the park next door for an hour and were happy- I was still hot and sweaty though :P
Well that's all the exciting news for now... oh, well, we caught a mouse tonight. I'm hoping it was the only one in the house (yeah, right).

I love the pics of the kids in the tree. They are great. And the glazed pork sounds fantastic.
