Cherry Crest Farm and Strasburg Railroad

Our week last week was a busy one!  We missed a day and a half of school, but I guess that's OK.  I'm trying not to stress about it :P
Monday we took Joanna to her last swim class for the session.  She's doing really well and listens to her teacher and just loves swim class.  I'm a big fan of her teacher as well, she's very nice.  I signed Joanna up for another session so we're going to just continue with that for now.
Tuesday was Chase's last day for his Gym and Swim program. I sat in and watched the swim portion the whole time and he's practically swimming on his own now!  I'm so proud of him :)  His class session is getting moved to Thursdays now, which will be a much better day for my schedule, and his good friend Caleb is going to be in the class with him too, he's so excited!
Wednesday was just a normal day at home.  In the morning I had a lady stop by to look around and give me an "estimate" on house cleaning.  I had a girl coming last winter every other week but she had to stop and I've been feeling pretty overwhelmed with all the tasks that need doing.  So this lady was very nice and hopefully we are able to work something out with her and our budget :)
Thursday, I met my friend Ronda at the Cherry Crest Farm down in Lancaster.  I had never been there before, it was pretty expensive to get into but a lot of fun!  We could have spent all day there and not done all of the activities!  The kids and I got there right at 10am but then poor Ronda got lost and didn't arrive until 10:30 or so.  The kids liked playing in this wooden train while we waited though.
Katy kept saying, "All aboard!"
She got there and we went in to get our tickets and set the kids free.  I couldn't believe how many things there were there!
The giant slide:
I went down once with Katy and I think Chase went down like 3 times
Katy and Mason liked these wooden horses.  She's talking so much now and kept saying, "go horsey, go!"
Big bouncy thing:
We ate lunch there and then after lunch went to see the animals.  I hope this baby chick was alright after being loved so much!
Katy loved the peepers
"Hello funnies!"
They had a bunch of goats there and this big goat bridge that they could go up on.  There was an elevator at the bottom that kids could put food into and then crank the food to the top of the bridge for the goats.
Ronda had gotten free tickets to ride the Strasburg train so we went to ask about when the train came and found out we had a little more time and decided to take a couple wagon rides:
A duck water station:
we seemed to have too many kids and not enough pumps :P
It was getting close to the time that the train would come so we walked down to the pick up spot and hung out there a little.  There was a really old playground that the kids liked, of course.
and here comes our train!:
unfortunately my camera died right after we got on the train so I don't have any pictures of the actual ride.
It's too bad to, their coaches are really neat fully restored, old time coaches.  The kids had a blast! It was a very fun day.  We got home a little before 4 in the afternoon, so it was also a long day!
Friday was a busy day as well.  I'm still trying to figure out a good schedule for our Fridays.  I got all of my errands run in the morning and we were able to do math and some of our reading list but not a reading lesson.
Saturday we didn't do a whole lot in the morning but in the afternoon Ricky and I were able to go out hunting together.  It was a beautiful evening for sitting in a tree stand but we didn't see any deer unfortunately, and I must have sat in a gnat/mosquito nest because I was getting bit like crazy!  Hopefully soon we'll get some meat for the freezer, we're almost completely out of venison!
Yesterday we had Sunday school in the morning, Ricky is my Sunday school helper now, and then just kind of putzed around the rest of the day.
These are some of the projects I completed last week:
Not a great picture of it but I made Joanna a dress to match her doll's!  plus a sweater for Bolt and Slippers for Joanna as well.
Last night I made these cute little owlets:
The pattern is super quick and easy and they turn out so cute!  I made a little nest as well :P
So that's pretty much the news for now.  I was also able to work in the gardens a bit last week.  Pretty much just weeding and cleaning up.  I found a place to move the sedum to and did that, it was really bugging me where it was.  I need to try and rake the leaves out of the beds today sometime, and I'll probably be making some more owls :)

You crocheted a dress?! Amazing! I have had this cute pattern forever that I have been meaning to make but just haven't gotten around to it. Good for you! The owls are adorable too.

We passed that Cherry Crest Farms when we took our train ride a few months ago and it looked cool even then in the off season. It also looked expensive, especially for all our gang.

Christy, it was expensive! I guess for all they had there I can see where they came up with the price but still. Definetly a once every 5 years (or more) trip :P
And thanks, I was really excited about the dress :) it took a while but I had a very eager young girl urging me on, lol.
