Are you all tired of hearing about my crochet projects yet?! I feel like that's all I post about now, I love all the projects that I've been able to do though. Right now I seem to have more time for it too. Chase is doing so well with school but I still need to sit with him and talk him through it all. I had decided to make him a coral snake last week. We looked it up online and I taught him the rhyme, "red touches yellow, kills a fellow. Red touches black, friend of Jack." So he thought that was pretty neat and named his snake Kills-a-fellow :P
I also decided to take on this project of crocheting a rug. It was a lot of work but I got it done. It kind of looks like an octagon but I'm not taking it out now.
I didn't really NEED to make one since the kids rooms are carpeted but I wanted to try it and see if I could, and I stopped at a thrift store and got an old sheet for cheap.
I told Katy to show me her face so that's why she's pointing at it :)
Oh and speaking of Katy... I gave her a haircut the other day! I was really sad about it because it was finally getting really long but we were having trouble keeping it untangled. She does that same thing that Joanna did where she just twirls and twirls and twirls it when she's going to sleep and twirls it in to awful dreads that I can not get out without cutting :/ So the bottom back part was long and the top back part was pretty short and it looked funny/weird. So anyway, I was sad about it but it turned out super cute!
Monday and Tuesday Hurricane Sandy, aka. the super storm of the century, aka. Frankenstorm, aka. the perfect storm, was here. We actually made it through pretty well. I couldn't believe we didn't loose power at all, but I was very thankful that we didn't! Sunday we spent most of the day preparing for it. Picking everything up, tying down the trampoline, getting the generator ready, etc. Ricky was worried about the kids sleeping on the top floor so we set up the turkey blind in the living room and laid down 4 sleeping bags and let them sleep in there all night.
I didn't sleep very well that night. Ricky and I were both worried that the power would go out and the sump pump would quit working so we tried to stay up just in case we had to hook up the generator. We always get water in the basement when it rains heavy so we NEED that sump pump to keep going!
The wind was HOWLING all night. We woke up Tuesday morning and it was mostly passed. So thankful that we didn't have any damage with this storm!
Wednesday night I took the kids down the road to a church that was having a free harvest party. It was really neat and they had a lot of fun and awesome activities for the kids. They had a blast!
Chase and Dominic were besides themselves excited about the police car and fire truck there.
Joanna, showing off her loot:
Katy was in her PJ's because I thought it would make it easy to take her home and just put her to bed but I ended up having to change her anyway because she somehow got all wet :P
I have a bunch of other projects in the works right now and some fun stuff going on this weekend but I have to save some stuff for the next post, right?! ;)
