Last weekend and more projects

Last Saturday  my mom came up to spend the day with me.  I've been feeling kind of down and overwhelmed lately, so she heard my plea and came up to help keep me company and organize the kids' clothes while Ricky was hunting all weekend.
It was so nice to have her up here with us. The kids were sooo excited to see her.  I had been needing to organize their clothes for a while now and was putting it off because it just seemed too daunting.  Well, we finished with the clothes around 11:30am and I realized that the kids really didn't have many winter clothes at all.  So we hopped in the magic minivan and went out for lunch and then to a consignment shop where I was fortunate enough to find ALL the clothes I would need for them for the winter!  My kids are growing up too fast, Chase is in size 7 (some things were 8's!) and Joanna is moving into sizes 5/6!  I didn't really need to get clothes for Katy since we have plenty of hand-me-downs for her but I did find a couple shirts and a pair of PJ's for her anyway.
I got two huge bags of clothes for them and they are so excited about all their "new" clothes :P
taking off all the tags:
Chase found this reversible, heavy duty, vest on his own so he was very proud of himself :)
Have I told you yet that Joanna says she wants to be a horse rider when she grows up?  I found this cowgirl shirt with horses on it for her and it was brand new with tags and everything!

My super silly kids:
My mom left shortly after we got back so she didn't stay long but it really helped to lift my spirits and motivate me to accomplish something.  I even went through my closet and bureau after she left and was able to reorganize that and get rid of 2 bags of clothes that we never wore anymore!
Sunday after church we ran over to my sister's house to drop off some things for them and visit a little.  We had invited ourselves over again, and I had people come look at puppies in the evening, so we weren't able to stay long but it was fun to see them a little.
I took Christy an infinity scarf that I had made but didn't "fit" me correctly and all the kids I had made a bunch of those little owls and a nest to keep them in.
I had a lot of fun making these little owls.  They were such a quick project and I liked making them all different.
I didn't get a picture of the infinity scarf I made Christy but if you don't know what that is, it's basically just a big circle scarf that you wrap around your head a bunch of times.  The one I gave her, I had actually made for myself but then didn't really like it for me because it was too chunky with my long hair.  I decided to try again with a pattern I made up and a lighter weight yarn.  I love my new scarf and was thinking I should start selling them or something.
The only hesitation I have when thinking about starting up my own shop is that I would feel obligated to keep it stocked up and it seems like every time I make something the kids want to keep it for themselves!  So I don't think I would be able to keep a stock pile of things.  If only the things I made weren't so cool maybe they wouldn't want them all the time, ha ha!
I decided to make all these angry birds for Chase for a Christmas present.
He loves the angry birds game and these are turning out so cool!

So far I have 4 completed and two more to go.  I also want to make him 2 or 3 pigs so he could set up an actual game with them.
I made Katy these nesting/stacking bowls and balls for Christmas too.  These aren't my pictures but mine look exactly like these.
It's been hard to hide these from them and keep them a secret but so far I've succeeded!
Joanna says she wants 3 little pigs so I think I'm going to modify this pattern a little and make them for her present:

The kids are already getting super excited for Christmas and were asking me every day how long it was until the fateful day.  So Monday, Chase and I made an advent chain so they could keep track of the days themselves:

The weather has been pretty cold lately and I'm starting to see some winter birds at my feeder.  This morning I saw this little guy flitting around.  He was fast and I could hardly get a picture of him!
I thought it looked like a tufted titmouse and after referring to our PA game commission Winter Birds poster I saw that I was indeed correct!  How handy it is to have them in our dining room for quick reference :P
I had also saw a white-breasted nuthatch at the feeder the other day but he flitted off before I could even attempt to take a picture.
Well that's all for now, of course I have many more projects in the works and one really exciting home makeover project coming up soon.  Stay tuned! :)
