Joanna got some snuggle time with Bolt this morning. Bolt usually tries to avoid the rambunctious children so this was a rare treat for Joanna :)
and she was being very silly about it :P
Yesterday afternoon, I stopped at my mother in laws house to send a fax and found her and my nephew running around the house saying there was smoke in the basement. I went down to look and sure enough there was smoke all over, it smelled really bad and the smoke alarm was going off. I couldn't tell where it was coming from and so we decided, to be safe, we should call 911... Since we live in such a small town, it caused quite a stir. 5 fire trucks, 1 police car and lots of worried, concerned neighbors later it was discovered to be a silly old box fan that had been sparking and smoking down there! I'm so thankful it was nothing serious and that my in laws have so many people who care for them, and of course for the wonderful response of our awesome fire company! The kids were also able to get a tour of one of the fire trucks before it left, so they pretty much had the best day ever :-P
another crochet project completed, I made a monster hat for Chase:
Katy is in love with it and kept saying, "t-Rex, mama. I, t-Rex" and running around growling:
I guess I need to make one for her now too :P
I never posted about my half marathon that I did in the beginning of September! It went OK, it was so hard but I finished! I thought this picture of all the Porto-potties lined up was funny. Race day there were people lined up 10 deep at each one!
It was a beautiful course through the Amish countryside. It was really advertised as a "run with the Amish", which I didn't really care about but it was fun. They had Amish children at all the water stations, handing out refreshments, and an Amish buggy led the race. I was in the back of the pack the whole time and I thought it was funny seeing all the racers stop in front of cows or fields having their pictures taken. I met a lot of nice people from all over the country, one lady who had flown from California just for this race! I had been doing really well and making pretty good time until around mile 8 or 9 when my feet started hurting, and hurting BAD. I pretty much had to walk the last 5 miles, I was disappointed about that but proud that I actually finished. A couple weeks after the race I was sent pictures from the photography company that had been there. The pictures were way too expensive for me to buy all of them but I splurged and got two, for posterity's sake. I thought it was funny that I was grimacing like this in almost all of the pictures.
My feet really were killing me. In Retrospect I should have gotten new sneakers for myself a month before the race... well, I know now, if I ever decide to do that again!

You poor thing...you look like you're in such pain, except of course when you crossed the finish line! What an accomplishment. You definitely got your running genes from Dad, not me. Ugh!
