Begining of October, 2014

Our turkeys continued to grow and fatten up in October.  We were amazed at how much they ate and drank... and then pooped!
We discovered that Chase made it into the local paper... well Chad did, not sure who that kid is :P
That picture cracks me up though because of the kid's face next to Chase :P
I met a friend of mine at French Creek State park for some playground and hiking time.  We were going to have a picnic too but the bugs were so bad that day our visit was cut short.
There were about 4 or 5 turtles sunning themselves on that log but they had all plopped in the water (except for that one) by the time I got my phone out for a picture.
I'm always a sucker for some wildflowers.
The kids and I took a bunch of things to the New Holland Fair show this year to see if we could win some ribbons.  I got 4 ribbons and Chase got 1!  My ribbons are hanging up in my yarn vault and the prize money went to buying more yarn, lol. My pillow:
 a wool cowl:
Chase and I were so excited that his little submarine (that was made last minute) won a ribbon!  I'm sure he will make something more elaborate next year now that he knows he can win money :)
a weaving that I did on a tree branch.
I was tickled pink that they liked my baby turkey hat :)
Ronda and I took our kids to Middle Creek Wildlife Management area for a little field trip.  The kids and I were studying birds in the fall semester so that was a perfect trip for us.  The kids had a lot of fun in the museum part before we headed outdoors to eat lunch and go on a hike.
Notice Chase's awesome creature power vest?  He's so cool :)
I loved gardens that they had there.  They had some very interesting plants and thankfully most of them were labeled.  I thought this one was so pretty and vibrant and it looked like something that would attract hummingbirds:
 This bush was really neat:
 the flowers were velvety
The leaves were starting to change colors and we enjoyed seeing some fall colors.
 Queen Anne's lace
 a big field cricket
Chase wanted me to take his picture with this wildflower he is holding.
I saw a monarch butterfly and was wishing I had brought my nice camera along!
 Gorgeous view.
it was a very beautiful day for a hike.
searching for creatures in the creek.

 silly kids...
I put up some fall decorations this year again.  I think fall decor is my favorite :)

I even got the kids to sit and take some nice pictures for me:
aww aren't they so cute?! :)
