Toward the end of Febuary Ricky and I looked at the 10 day forecast and grudgingly agreed it was time to give up on the ice rink for the year. We had a pretty nice day the weekend after our anniversary and spent the whole day taking it apart and putting everything in storage.
We only got to use it 2 days this winter, they were fun days but we were definitely hoping for more than that. Oh well, hopefully next winter will be better. Also that weekend we decided to take a drive to Middlecreek to see the snow geese and tundra swans that stop their in droves on their migration back north.
It was very cool to see but there were so many people!
The swans stayed in a separate area than the geese.
Of course my kids saw water and they thought that meant they needed to play in it :P
One day when I ran out to our local grocery store the kid's found kites for $2 each and begged and begged if I could buy them each one and they would pay me back when we got home.
I ended up giving in and then I also had to take them to a field and teach them how to use the kites.
It was a little chilly but good kite-flying weather. Joanna ran and ran and ran but could not really get her kite up higher then 5 feet. Later we discovered that their was a hole in it. I loved her rosy cheeks and happy smile though 😊
Katy said she was too cold and sat in the car until she saw I had her kite WAY up in the sky, then she ran over and took it from me, haha!
Wednesday the 22nd we drove down to NJ to visit with my mom and dad a little. I was sad we hadn't been able to go visit my dad the last time we were down so it called for a quick trip. It was a really nice day so after we ate lunch we went on a little hike on the "Mount" of Mount Laurel 😜
Them we went over to see my dad at Care One. Dad seemed to be doing good and was very happy to see us.
He actually had two ice cream comes at the "parlor"! It does my heart good to be able to see my parents and spend time with them.
As we were on our way back to drop my mom off at her house we were involved in an accident! We were the third car hit and No One was hurt, plus I was still able to drive my car home so that was good. I'm so thankful it wasn't worse because it easily could have been. I just got an estimate for the repair on the damage and it will be about $900! I couldn't believe that because it looks like just a few scratches, thankfully the at fault person's insurance company is paying for everything in full, plus a free rental Car!
We had a really nice warm weekend the end of Febuary so we were able to get a head start on some yard and garden work.
Ricky showed me how to use the rototiller this year so I'm pretty happy I don't have to rely on him for that now.
And doesn't it look so nice freshly tilled?!
The girls decided to make some count down to first day of spring chains:
And then Sunday we had some more kite flying fun. Katy didn't want to go so we took Dominic and they had fun doing "kite wars"
